To the learned-encyclopaedic on his 60th birthday
To the laureate prize of the Al - Khorazmiy and of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, to professor Akhmad hoji Khasanovich Khorazmiy on reaching his 60th glorious year. His creative work and activity are characterized by its unique and multi-facetted (encyclopaedic) character.
Akhmad hoji Khorazmiy was born on the 20th of March, 1948, to a peasant family, in the village of Bagat, in the Khorezm region of the republic of Uzbekistan. His father, Khasan son of Aba belongs to the Magtimkuly (Firagy) family. He fought relentlessly up until 1930 for his country and religious freedom against the "Reds" (Communists). Known as "Khasan basmachi" (anti Soviet resistance movement of central Asia), he distinguished himself throughout Khiva Khanat. At the people's request, he became the first chairman (Leader) of the collective farm (village) between 1930 and 1936. His mother, Tazagul daughter of Abdukarim, was born into a wealthy, educated family. As confirmed by some sources, she belongs to the lineage of the great learned-encyclopaedic Muhammad ibn Musa Al- Khorazmiy. This could be the reason for the family name of her great grandfather Khorazmiy.
A. Khorazmiy began to learn the Koran under the direction of Abdulla kari when only 3 years old. Abdulla kari noticed his unique abilities and said: " Akhmadjan will become by 7 years of age the youngest "Kari" (a person who can recite the Koran by heart) in the When he was 4 to 5 years of age, he began to teach Suras (chapters) of the Koran to the women of the village during "Namaz".
Later on, Akhmad hadji Khorazmiy studied the Koran several times from beginning to end (Khatm), in the Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, Uzbek, Turkmen and English languages. He knew by heart the names and the contents of 114 Sury Chapter) of the Koran and wrote the books called "Short lessons from the Koran", and the "Counsel of Hadis". He organised and directly took part in the building of a number of mosques, Tombs and village (mahalla) centres. His activities have been reported in the press with such headlines as "Gift of Professor Khorazmiy ", "Gift of hadji Father" and others. In 1997, Akhmad hadji Khorazmiy made the H a d j pilgrim age to Mecca a n d Madin a and w a s honoured with t h e Islamic title of "Hadji". From 1999 onwards, as a follower (sufi) of the tariqah of "Nakshbandiya”, he faithfully carries out the tariqah rites. He conducted studies into the principles of sufizm (Tasavvuf) and his articles, history of central Asia. Unfortunately, Adulla kari died when Akhmadjan was 5 years of age, by when he had already learned mo r e than half of the Koran by heart. But his work and study in this area continued such as "Teacher of Sheikhs", "The doctrine and tariqah of Bakhauddin Nakshband" and others, were published in scientific reviews.

In 1953, after the death of his first teacher Abdulla kari, Akhmad Khorazmiy devoted himself to other, non-religious matters. Until he became of school age, he freely read even wrote with the result that he started school from 3d class. He went on to study Soil Science and Agrochemistry from 1972-1981 at the National University of Uzbekistan (formerly the Central Asia State University). After graduation, he carried out research under the leadership of the outstanding scientist academician, Sergey Rijov into agrochemistry and native phytocenosis. Khorazmiy he is the first and only scientist who studied systematically and in depth the native forage plants and soil of the country, which stretches from the desert to the mountain region and which covers over 70 % (31 million hectares) of the territory of Uzbekistan. Following his research in this field over a 10 year period, his monographs comprising over 10 printed pages, were published in 1982 by the "Fan" publishing house under the title "Fertilizer natural of hayfields and pastures of Uzbekistan".
His research in this field has been awarded the Prize of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and A. Khorazmy established claim to new fields of scientific research (the agrochemistry of phytocenosis) in Uzbekistan. A major article was published in the press about his research and achievements in this field by the well known learned Professor B. Ruzmetov, under the heading " The Docuchaev of Khorezm" (Docuchaev is outstanding and first scientist by the soil-science in the World). Between 1981-1984, Akhmad hadji Khorazmiy took part in the establishment of the Cotton Science Centre Mozambique (Africa), and headed the department of agrochemistry and fertilizer at the centre. The studies conducted in Mozambique were recognised with an honorary certificate from the Mozambican government and the results were published in a monograph in Portuguese and also in Russian (Problems in the development of cotton growing in Mozambique), by the "Mekhnat” formally reviewed by major scientists publishing house in Uzbekistan. This book wassuch as Kochubey, who had a wide experience of foreign countries. These achievements of A. Khorazmiy were glowingly reported in the national press of the country, under such headings as "A centre for friendship", "Friendship aid".
In 1993, Akhmad hadji Khorazmy defended a doctoral thesis on the topic of "The scientific principles of the fertilization of native phytocenosis in different soil and climatic conditions of the world". With this, A. Khorazmy was admitted as the youngest doctor of science and professor in the field of agrochemistry in Central Asia and the first and only doctor of agricultural sciences and professor in the Khorezm oasis (Khorezm oasis includes the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan, the Tashauz region of Turkmenistan and the southern part of Karakalpakstan). The results of his doctoral dissertation comprised over 600 pages (42 and a half printed pages) and was published by the "Fan" publishing house. For this, he was recommended for the official Al- Khorazmy prize of the Republic of Turkmenistan. Khorazmiy has carried out research and made discoveries and inventions, as well as writing a number of books in such diverse fields of science such as agrochemistry, botany, pedology, ecology, agriculture, religion, and Sufism (Tasavvuf). In 1994, the publishing house "Fan" brought out his well known scientific manual entitled "The scientific bases for increasing the effectiveness of fertilizers". In this book, based on a quarter of a century of research, he was the first to show that agrochemicals seriously degraded the ecology of the biosphere. He advanced theories about a reduction in the use of agro-chemicals on a year to year to basis, leading to a complete cessation, whilst developing a non-chemical method to increase plant yields. For this book, he was awarded the Al- Khorazmy prize in 1995.
Professor Khorazmiy has lectured to graduates with bachelor and master degrees in the Uzbek, Russian, Portuguese and English languages at the Urganch State University, at the Tashkent State Agrarian University, at the University Edward Mondlana in Mozambique and the London and Cambridge universities of Great Britain. A number of post graduate and doctoral dissertations have been written under his guidance. Akhmad hadji Khorazmiy also has numerous readers in the field of literature. A number of his stories have been published on the internet and in other publications. His widely known scientific-satirical book "Vakil" (the Commissioner) was published in 1999 by "Khorazm" publishing house and caused an unparallel sensation in society. Due to its relevance, it was officially reprinted in full during 1999-2000 in the pages of the scientific and industrial journal "Uzbek Agriculture & Farming". An official review of this book was published by the well-known journalist Shavkat Bolta under the heading "The book is written with courage, like the axe which cuts away disease". This further increased the authority and popularity of the book. Its sequel, a novel called "The fate of the scientist", shows that he also intended to make no small contribution in the field of literature too.
Although without any qualifications to become a well-known poet or singer, Professor Khorazmiy wrote music to the poem "What would the world do without Khorazm". He both penned and sang the verses. Khorezm singers sing these songs to his music. In recognition, the people called him the "The nightingale of Uzbekistan" In 1974, Komiljan Otaniyazov prayed "May God bless you in the field of science!”. His philosophical verses circulate in a number of scientific and are educational establishments and sound as follows:
For science they have felt lifelong anguish and torment,
May God give them his blessing and show his support.
Scientists have become the heirs to the Prophet,
Devoting their whole life to the benefit of the people

This is a testament to the love and recognition felt by the people for his genius. He began work at the age of thirteen in a collective farm and he has been a scientific worker, professor in various world universities, the director of a major state farm, the chairman of MRPO (Association) "Uzselhozkhimiya”, head of the Khorezm Institute of Cotton Growing, an official of the provincial government of Administration (Hokimiyat), and head of the regional Centre of Science and Technology.Wherever he worked, he always had the motto "a manager should always leave his mark", which indeed he did. He also worked fruitfully for many years as a people's deputy (MP) in the district and regional Parliament (Council). As a result of almost 40 years of work and creativity, this well known scientist has produced a body of work comprising over 20 books and over 100 articles in excess of 3000 pages, which shows the scope of his productivity and creativity.
At present, A. Khorazmy is tirelessly working on the publication of his "Selected essays" which will comprise over 10 volumes and be based on his previously published and completed works in various fields. His life and creative work has been reported in the Uzbekistan press under such headings as the "Pride of Khorezm", "The gift the hadji Father, "Councillor of the Khorezm peasants" and so on. There have also been articles written about him in the press of other countries, such as "Assistance from Soviet scientist" (in the Mozambique state "Noticias", "Diario de Mozambique"), "In the footsteps of Al- Khorazmi" (in the Turkmenistan newspaper "Vatan"), and worldwide e.g. "The creative work of the Uzbek scientist" ("Radio Freedom"). A. Khorazmiy is a good father to 8 children and a beloved grandfather to a number of grandchildren. Only just turned 22, his son Oybek Khorazmiy graduated from the State Agrarian University with a "red" (honours) degree in his father's profession of "agrochemistry and soil sciences". He has taken part in research work under the guidance of his father and was successful in a number of published scientific and methodical articles. His 12 years old son, Ulugbek Khorazmiy, has distinguished himself in mathematics, biology, chemistry, English and other subjects, all of which testifies to the success of the further generations of the Khorazmiy family. . Not will be mistake to say, this congratulation it is our wishing of the heart in view of poem.

MAY HE BE BLESSED
(an ode)

Blessed be this day for you, my friend,
May you be revered each day by your students,
May your work bring new discoveries,
Akhmad hoji, may your 60th year be blessed!

You have toiled tirelessly since thirteen years of age,
Placing your trust in no-one but God,
Your work became famed, but you remained modest,
Viva Khorazmiy, may your journey of light continue!

May you receive the blessings of your ancestor,
Al-Khorazmiy Firagiy,
May the spirit of your Masters Hamadiy and
Nakshbandiy sustain you,
May the aspirations of the Uzbek,
Turkmen and Turkiy nations be realised,
May your knowledge radiate like the sun,
O Turkiy man of science!

You spread learning the world over, like your ancestor, Al-Khorazmiy,
Bowing to no-one but the Lord, like your kinsman,
Jalaladdin Manguberdiy,
Countless praised you, just like Pavlan Iskandariy,
Pride of our people, may your life be eternal

On behalf of numerous relatives, friends, colleagues and students, we wish the polymath scientist, Akhmad hoji Khorazmiy, further success in his work and a long life for the further worldwide glorification of his native land of Khorezm and Turkistan as well as that of his great-grandfather Al-Xorazmiy.
